My DW gave me an action camera for Christmas. This camera is used to put on your head or helmet. I have not used the camera. On my way back from Florida I had a brain fart. Why don't I mount the camera on my dash so when we are traveling down the road we can video what is happening in front of us. We all see things happen that we wish we had a camera going to video it. Well another item on the "to do" list. Hope some day this one gets done. Maybe for the CHR. Jerry

Quite a few drivers have dash cameras.
Shows weird world of the Walter Mitty's driving Indy track. At least they thinking a race or something!

And to mention the road rages out there.

I chose the BlackBox B40-C Capacitor GPS Stealth Dash Cam - Covert Versatile Mini A118 Full HD 1080P Car DVR - 170° Super Wide Angle 6G Lens - 160°F Heat Resistant - G-Sensor WDR Night Vision Motion Detection. It is hardwired to my windshield with the remote GPS antenna on the fender outside the driver’s door. It starts and stops with the ignition. It saves movies in 5 min files. When an accident is detected the movie is saved to a special folder on the chip where it will not be overridden. When the movies are opened in Dashcam viewer software.

The Dashcam Viewer Software opens 4 windows on the desktop. The windows are: a speed graph, a google map with location, a dashboard showing speed and direction, and the actual movie with sound. The software is from http://dashcamviewer.com.

I have been using a Garmin 20 dash cam. It's a solid unit with GPS and audio recording in addition to its time and location video stamp. It's small and non-obtrusive. We have had it for almost a year and it has performed as advertised.
Since we drive so much, I bought it to give us a record to avoid potential conflicts of opinion if we are involved in a traffic incident. Although we have not needed it for that reason, we have recorded some crazy drivers.
In addition, having a constant record has actually made me a better and more aware driver.

Viofo A119 Dashcam with GPS - can get it on Amazon for $99. Rated one of the best and great support. Look at dashcamtalk forums for info.

I have a Cobra Dash Cam from Costco for about $100, its running anytime I'm driving. Next time those Green Aliens crash into New Mexico I will have proof. :Ban
