Thinking about going to Damascus in June , actually June 1st. For the wife's nephew graduation. If I was to take our camper up, where would be a close campground to Damascus.

Know nothing about Maryland at all. But this is where I usually start when going to a new place. If there are more than a handful of reviews of a campground, the site seems to be reasonably accurate.

Little Bennet is a nice county park not too far away.
Rambling Pines is a private CG not too far away. Rambilin Pines is less desirable. They have lots of permanents and could be kept in better shape. Rambling Pines is doable if toy must be in the area but otherwise I would avoid it.
Little Bennett would be my first choice for Damascus although the commute to Rambling Pines maybe easier and should be factored into the decision.

Use the review site above. Maryland (where we live) is one of the worst states for campgrounds, especially if you want FHU. Better campgrounds like Cherry Hill are too far away and traffic would make the trip an hour plus. You either need to head to a state park without sewer or maybe even water or to an average campground as Lantey names. Whatever you do, don’t count of driving very fast during rush hour (which is much of the day).

I agree with Mike and Peg - I also live in MD and it is the worst for camping. Penn has many more options but it would be a bit of a drive.

I would not call MD the worst Assateaque, Frontiertowne, Castaways are some of the most popular parks in the region.
Swallow Falls, Elk Neck, Janes Island, Pocomoke, Rock Gap and Deep Creek State Park are also decent.
Cherry Hill caters to lots of campers also.
Don't get me wrong PA, and VA have a lot of great places as well. I would not judge the entire state based on a CG's proximity to Damascus! FHU sites are certainly not a prerequisite for a CG to be great
