The thermostat in our 291RLS is within a foot of the tv. This causes a false temperature reading whenever the tv is in use. Therefore we have to compensate with a temperature differential both in the warm weather and the cold weather. I tried making a foam baffle to put between the tv and thermostat but it didn't do much good. In the warm weather this causes the a/c to constantly kick on because of the heat from the tv, making our l/r like an icebox. In the cold weather, the furnace won't start due to the fact that the thermostat is warm from the heat of the tv. Big design flaw. Any ideas would help.

Can you post a pic of the current setup? May be able to make suggestions based on what we see.

There is a picture here I believe. It is close. It is on the side of the pantry. I guess the TV heat radiates out. Looks like you have easy access to the wiring to move it.

Looks far enough from the TV. With the AC try leaving the fan on low to keep the air better distributed. I have no ideas regarding when the heat is on, but I don’t see how the TV could be the culprit.

I agree with Mike. The TV does seem far enough away from the thermostat. Plus it is slightly above it so all heat should be rising. Your styrofoam idea should also have worked.

What happens if the TV is off? Is everything normal then?
