Hello All,

I have been searching the other posts on second AC installs.

I have a 2012 OR 305BHS. It is wired and dusted for the 2nd AC.

My questions are should I go with a ducted unit or not ducted.

If i do the ducted how is it connected to my ducts already there.

Where is my thermostats wire located at in my model.

I would most likely add a heat strip. How does this complicate the install.

Thanks for any replies!

One advantage for two units attached to the same ducts: when one is enough, you can run the one furthest from you and avoid some of the noise.
I've been unimpressed with heat strips in the AC unit. A small ceramic portable warmed up more quickly, was lots quieter, and put the heat down at the floor where it is more effective.

I emailed Highland for their input and they also advised to go with a ducted system with return air. They further recommended a dual zone thermostat.

So now my questions is has anyone done this install?
What is involved with changing out the thermostat and hooking the ac up to the ducting that is already there?
From looking online at parts do I also need a dual zoned control box in addition to the thermostat or is there one somewhere in the RV?

Thanks for any input you all can provide

We added a second ducted AC to our 272RLS. Or rather, we had our dealer do it. The thermostats each just hook up to one of the ACs and so only the original thermostat controls the furnace. The new thermostat is on the wall right by the bedroom entrance.
