Wow. What a feat. Yes these units will eventually be game changers.
Don't put your tools away yet . We may need to cut a few more holes in the floor!

LOL I already have GM3500 rear leafs on my wish list. Might need them if I had enough batteries to run that. ALTHOUGH I was watching a video of a RV compressor type refrigerator, that draws only 3.5 amps to run. That's 42w and 3.5 amps at 12v. Not bad for a fridge.

Pretty sure it was a Norcold Marine fridge.

"The unit uses four or more 12 volt standard deep cycle batteries."
That is a lot to keep charged up, wonder how long it would run on a full charge?

I have been seeing more like that on big trucks, that pick up at my facility. A few drivers I talked to, said the only use them a few hours at a time, on and off. But the sleeper cabs are pretty small.

Some manufacturers, of high end expedition vehicles use them already ( sorry guys, these trucks are incredible, and a few hundred k, ) Most of these have massive solar and battery banks, a few have other options for power.

I bet the AC versions could be more efficient in RV's than what we have now also. I would not be supprised if with 20a or so you could cool an average camper with a two zone unit.

These systems use a technology that came to being in the 80's. It uses constant running, variable speed compressors. I got out of AC business in the 80's and even then they were exploring this concept on high end units.
The heaviest current draw and worst wear on a compressor is startup. Why wait till the heat has built back up to start cooling all over again. Why not maintain that temp. That is the technology they work under.
Even at my home when the AC is on, the fan is set to run continous. This maintain a more even trmp throughout the house and cycles the compressor less frequently, because you can set the temp higher due to constantly moving air feeling cooler.

its also using 900w worth of panels that put out around 38v. when they say 4 batteries, its 4 x 12v wired to = 48v.

Split levels of 12 and 24 V are quite popular on the Aussie caravan (RV) fora. We are 50 yards from Caribbean in our Roadtrek. Temperatures are in 80 s during day and low 70s at night. A/C is not necessary with Fantastic Fan and a couple of 12 V fans. Use our 337RLS in US and Canada and the Roadtrek down here. A 34’ fifth wheel is far to large for a lot of Colonial towns in southern Mexico
