Had my slide out switches replaced last Thursday and still having problems. On my third slide out motor, new switches and still having problems with the slide bogging down when coming in or out. Now I am having issues with it tripping the breaker 3 or 4 times before I can get it fully in or out? From day one, I had removed the 150lb love seat with the hide a bed in it from the slide and replaced it with a 20lb desk so I would have an office while working. So apparently weight should not be an issue. It has been to the dealer 3 times with issues with this big slide and it still is not working right. Any suggestions of what more I could possibly do before I give up and trade it in on a Rushmore? :-x

The cables need to be adjusted. I can't tell you what is too tight or too loose, but I can tell you that's what my large slide was doing during the PDI. There are videos that show you how to adjust the cables, and some of the guys here know their stuff... My dealer took care of my initial problem, and a local guy took care of other adjustments.

Thanks so much for posting this. We have been noticing that the slide out mechanism seems to be struggling and this may be the cause. We never heard anything from the dealer or Open Range, but I did contact the dealer and hopefully they can send me the switches

Your slide issue may not be just the switches, but an alignment issue or both.

My slide topper on my big slide was causing issues. The hardware was causing the slide to pull up and bind. Domitic knew of the issue and redesigned the mounting brackets and so far I'm not having the binding issues we were.

The shaft from the motor to the gear box on my slide-out just broke this weekend.I have the square apron around my switches. I've had my OR light for 2yrs and 3 months.

I have a 7 yr extended warrany from Richardson's RV that covers the slideouts... But I have to schedule an appointment. (Probably 2 week wait). They will not order the parts until the coach is at Richardson's. So far they are averaging a 2 month turn around for the 3 times I've had it there for repairs! The only thing worse than there turn-around is their total lack of customer service. I'm not looking forward to this.

Ouch - that is not good to hear. :( We have a 7-year extended warranty too - but so far have not needed to use it. Your description does not bode well if we ever do need to use it!

Good luck!

I guess. Born and raised. Hard to not be living here, but hard to get over the Davaney/Osborne traditions and into the big business of college football.

maybe you could find a local repair shop or mobile repair guy to replace the
broken shaft.

Thank you for this post. My warranty expired last month on a 2012 398 RLS that was purchased new in Feb 2013. We have the square cornered switches not the rounded corner switches and our largest slide out had sometime stalled. Highland Ridge has been very good on warranty issues- I'll call them and see what they suggest. Wish I would have started reading this Forum sooner...maybe they will sent me one switch for me to install if it stalls again..?

If it is the same 7 year extended warranty I have thru "Portfolio Protection", you have to take it to the dealer in which you purchased the service plan from unless you are more than 100 miles away. Then you must call their hotline to get authorization to take it somewhere else.....

Slide out issues have been addressed by a new motor, heavier wiring to stand more amps, a new switch that will support a higher amp draw, ( too low amp rated switch will cause too much resistance), and I believe a heavier cable as I understand. The new motor is a higher torque using more amps, still 12 volt though. All 2017's have this upgrade as passed along to me. Thanks

We had issues with our 2015 left over 319RLS when we first took possession of it. The slides would pop the fuse the minute you pressed the toggle switch. At one campground in NH the slides went out fine, but when packing up to go home, they would not come back in due to the fuses blowing. I had 30 amp circuit breakers installed in place of the 30 amp fuses and have had zero problems in over 6 camping trips.

Our 2016 LF297RLS had no problem with the motor or the 'Flex Drive Shaft', but when it was a year old all three gearboxes failed within 3 weeks. OR has since paid to have them replaced and I am compiling a 'How To' for replacing motor, shaft or gearbox.
Even when you know exactly what is wrong, getting a service appointment and the part can take months.
If you have the part on hand, replacing a failed motor, shaft, or gearbox takes well less than an hour.

I noticed a grinding noise in our slide. We have a 2016 292Rls .
I called the dealer service dept. They told me if the slide is shut dont open it.
The problem he says is the gear motor. Then I talk to some friends that knew another guy, that his gear casing
Shattered, Ours is now at the dealers for warranty work.

We have an OR 2010 5th 385 w/4 slides. Our big curbside slide is cable driven and we have had it adjusted several times. The motor seems to struggle in & out and sometimes jumps. Would this be the switch. Has anyone had this problem. The other 3 slides pop in & out; no problem.
