If there was a recall on theses switches, why were owners not notified of this?

So I finally got my 308 in to have the switches replaced and the owner at my dealership finally found the engineer at OR that answered the why question. Apparently the old switches at the lower amperage rate would stay engaged for several milliseconds after you let off the switch. In some cases the would continue to move the slides and subsequently cause the breaking of the pin that is connected between the drive motor and the cable. By the way if you don't have those pins buy a couple. They cost about 3 bucks and its the piece you need if your slide out gets stuck out or in typically. So the new switches at the higher amperage stop the flow of electricity as soon as you let off which in theory should decrease the chances of the slide continuing to move.

Just thought I would share what I learned for everyone's curious side.

Dplude, where is this pin? My motors drive through a drive shaft into the gear box and the chain sprocket is, I believe, keyed to the gear box output shaft. No pins.

I still don't buy that milliseconds make a difference. Sorry.

The pin goes between the motor and the gearbox.

Don't think of the "pin" as a pin, think of it as a "shear shaft" that looks like a flex steel matrix, like speedometer cable look like.

Could you provide a part number for that 'shear shaft'. I know if I call my dealer, the service guy will have no idea what I'm talking about.

It is actually wire wrapped steel which gives it the flex look. There are two different diameter sizes, and these were the larger listed as 19" x 1.77". The part number for that size, looking at a packing slip I got from OR, is Vendor Part #854769, and OR Part #22233, both listed on the slip for the 'Drive Shaft, Slideout Motor, Gearbox, 19" x 1.77".'

Your dealer's parts guy should have some of each size. Giving them that info should get them in the ballpark for acquiring both sizes.

I am confused.
19" long? Shafts I seen on motor to gearbox are short, more like 3-4" long. You might be describing the back up flex shafts to attach drill motor to, to close the slides if motor total failure??

I thought the same thing, Mickey. That's what was written on the packing slip. I'm assuming it may mean millimeters, as they are definitely not 1.77 inches wide. If that were the case, none of us would have any shaft issues. Ever.

Spoke with Jason at Highland Ridge RV. I have the old switches in my 2012, which is out of warranty. Therefore, he could not send me the switches nor sell them to me. Told me to call the dealer. The dealer had already told me that I'd have received the TSB if it applied to me. Jason said that wasn't true. TSB's go to the dealers. He did send me: Part Number for the New Switches - 24375.

I'll order them myself through the dealer.

Thanks for the heads up on the switch swap, never did recieve the bulletin. My unit is a Mesa Ridge 346flr 2015. I had to tell the dealer to look into it, got the new ones (four), hope no problems (never did fail).

John do you have Jason's extension? They're supposed to send me replacement switches according to Justin.

Had my 318 in for warranty work on swelling counter tops and I asked the dealer about my slide switches. The service guy asked if I got a bulletin about the switches , which I said didn't, and then he said most likely ours wasn't on the recall list.
However because of this site and all the great feedback and pictures people posted, I told the service guy that the square apron switches are on recall which is what I have, so I said, check it out. He did and I now have 3 brand new round apron slide switches.
Thanks to everyone in here, your comments, feedback and pictures are a great help.
