We received our also. Didn't really provide much information about the recall.

I wonder if we can do the repairs ourselves. I am 2 hours away from the dealer.

My dealer called me about this. She said all my "recessed" lights (13 of them) need to be replaced as mine are missing a heat shield. OR recommended to restrict using the existing lights to 1/2 to 1 hour as there could be a danger of burn damage to the ceiling. I'm on the road so she is trying to figure out if a dealer along my route can change them out.

I called Open Range about the recall. You cannot do the repair yourself because it is a government safety issue.

I contacted OR/HR, listing our VIN # and was told camper not subject to this recall.
But trying to find out what's the hic cup, reason for recall and learn from another web site if the lamps have metal base, it's ok. So I snapped off couple lenses and can see a metal ring or base over the plastic base. So I am guessing that's the metal base. Can only assume some lamps do not have this metal ring/base, could "burn".

What is needed is a few pictures of these things. Like what is a recall lamp vs. what is ok. Just not enough info of this hic cup.

As I said below learned if lamp has metal base, acceptable. I can see some kind of metal ring on couple of lamps i checked in our 2017 Light mod 318.

And the fact I contacted OR with the avIN #, and then OR called to say the RV not subject to recall.

Nor did we get a letter.

This tells me not ALL 2017 models are affected. But which? Having a few pictures of the good vs the bad would help owners to understand, how to check their rigs.

I contacted OR re this recall hoping that it was for the pot lights in our 2015. 6 in living area 2 have been replaced under warranty also 1 in bedroom.
The email that I got back stated that:
To answer your question, no sir, this recall is not on part number 25095.

25095 has spring loaded arms on the back, the recall is for lights that screw in
25095 has a lens that screws on, the recall is on lights that just snap on and off.

Hope this helps.

I did the same using the contact form on their website.
They called back within an hour or so saying my unit which was manufactured in March of 17 wasn't affected.

I did get a recall letter identifying my trailer VIN. Called my dealer and made appointment to have the lights replaced. Pulled the trailer 110 miles to the dealer today. They looked at my lights and told me that they are not the ones that are subject of the recall. My trailer is an early 2017 Light 216RBS. I would like to check them myself if I knew what to look for. A little irritating to waste a day and 23 gallons of diesel only to hear "Oops, sorry, it did not apply to you after all.

I received a letter from Highland Ridge also. I left the lights on that are in question for over an hour, could not feel any heat. These are LED. I'll have them replaced when they become available from my dealer. My concern is with the lights above the dinning area and above the theater chairs. They both have 3 large "peanut" bulbs in them. They get so hot after just a few minutes you can not touch the lenses. These are the only non LEDs I can locate in my 5R. Anyone else have this potential problem?

Dealer replaced 14 puck lights today while I waited. They are the ceiling lights without a on/off button in the center.

CW, do you know what's was difference between the two? Any keen observation of styles of new vs. the OEM in the camper, like a metal ring or ?

Sorry, I don't know. They look identical to the originals. My Open Range dealer had a big box of them that they took out to the 5er when making the repairs.

Now that I think about it, when they first went out to the trailer, the Service Manager came back and said "It doesn't look like yours are part of the recall." I told him again that I received the letter with my VIN# and he said "Let me check again." He came back and said "You're right, they are covered." So it would seem they are identical enough to cause confusion with the dealers too.
