Found this out from email.

Tire-maker Michelin is recalling about 1.2 million tires sold in the U.S. because an increasing number are experiencing tread loss or rapid air loss.

The tires are commonly used for pickup trucks, heavy-duty vans, RVs and commercial light trucks. The news outlet reported that the Greenville, S.C.-based company said no deaths or injuries have been reported because of the recall.

The tires, known as Michelin LTX M/S tires, were manufactured between January 2010, and June 2012. They were sold as original equipment on some vehicles and as new replacement tires.

Owners can have them replaced at Michelin stores for no charge.

I think Michelin should stick to rating restaurants. Their tires have no traction.

but it sure is nice getting 50,000 miles out of a Load Range E truck tire and still have 5/32 left when you change them out.

but I run the LTX A/S on my Dodge and the LTX M/S on my 2001 S10 Stepside (with only 48K original miles on it :) )

I just replaced my OEM Michelin truck tires last week that had 49,000 miles and not down to the wear bars yet with the exact same tires LT275/65R20 E LTX A/T 2 so they are not the same as the recall. The way I look at it is at 100,000 miles on the truck I will have only had 2 sets of tires.

I love both of the tires. the M/S on the S10 are not that good in the snow, but it could be the truck is 1 wheel drive and has no weight in it.
But I am lucky that when it snows I have the option of working from home.

You just have to be careful when replacing them. Michelin carries a line of you find in the warehouse stores that I always felt were named to make you "think" you were getting the LTX for a discount, but they don't last like the LTX.

My last trip back from Ca. I took I-10 to Phoenix,Az then crossed over the rim toward Holbrook, Az.
The temp. in Phoenix was 100+ and by the time I gat to the top of the rim it was raining and the
temp. was in the 40's. when my low tire warning light came on. I thought I was having a flat, when in fact all four tires(Michelin) had lost around 6 pounds of pressure. I had not had that to happen before
or since. Don't know what caused the lost pressure unless it was caused by the rapid change in temp.

I don't think the TPM module can react very fast to the change in both Altitude and temps. But it did its job and warned you something was changing.

The tire pressure at 100 degrees is much different than the pressure at 40. Kind of awesome that the TPMS let you know something was happening.

We have the 265x17 on our Dodge 2500 at 10,000 miles the rears are showing excessive ware. The fronts are fine. We got them from Discount Tire on line so now I'm having to deal with warranty via the Internet, the rep told me to go head and rotate the tires and give it some more time. However I know what he is doing, he's trying to get me to get more miles on them so that they'll prorate the warranty.

I had OEM Michelin tires on my 2001 dodge ram. I got 95,000 miles on those tires. I replaced them with the same tires and have 70,000 miles on these tires. Personally, I like Michelin tires. I had Firestones on my last truck, they did not last 40,000 miles before they were trash.

Well after I rotated them and we drove back from Florida I had one that was good on the rear and the two that I rotated to the front were done, I was able to just go into the Discount tire store and they warrantied
three of the tires. They did prorate the tires we had to pay $34.00 for each tire. I went with the same tires because we still had the one good one. Our mechanic told us about the same as what Towpro said about getting tires from the warehouse tire stores, he said that the big warehouse and places like Walmart have the big tire manufacturers make their tires leaving out some of the materials that the manufacturers normally put in the tires. Now I thought bs no way, but I might believe if these tires don't last. My brother in law got his at Sam's Club and there warring fine.
