On my fall trip thought I would try this.

Very good to know! So what did you think?

I see you are not allowed to have any alcohol in your possession.
Hmmmm. Bummer.

That's cool.
But do you have to pay turnpike tolls too, to get there?

Enjoy your trip. Like the fall colors in your pic. Just winterized today. Only for a couple of months. If you have to stop at a toll booth tell the attendant you have a coupon for 2 free axles. See what kind of reaction you get. Most tell me I made their day. Drive safe and watch the road kill. Jerry and Sue.

This RV 'Park' is located on the entrance to the Portage Rest Stop on I-80W. The semi-trucks come in at least every few minutes. Pretty loud. I was planning on staying connected to my trailer, however, the spaces are not long enough for that, so I had to disconnect and parked my truck as in the photo. The price is right, for $20. We are staying at Shipshewana for the next 2 nights. John, I would never admit to enjoying a few sips of Jameson, because Ohio Turnpike doesn't allow alcohol. Mickey yes it's on the tollway. Mickey, when you have a minute PM me, I can't get through to you. Sue and Jerry, I can't ask for the 2 axel discount, I use the EZPass transponder.

Sure looks a lot different than when I came through there early March in an ice storm. Very dark, very desolate. And very cold. I wondered about the volume level of the trucks coming in constantly. Dumped it in a hotel parking lot for the night instead. Where alcohol was allowed... at their bar.

Ken, we stopped there on my way home from the CHR this summer; we were the only ones there until I woke up the following morning to see the lot was full of RV's. Having the rest area with shops and food court was a plus. We actually had an inspector stop by to ensure we paid our $20.00 fee and the recepit was on the TV windshield - he was nice and said better him checking that a State Trooper at 2 in the morning:) we did have our chairs w/ small table outside with our beverages of choice. There was a large area of grass which allowed our dog the opportunity to run and the RV area also had a dump station and water for those who required such. As the first to arrive I took the first spot - angled in and did not have to unhook the RV from the TV - Having electrical was nice to allow us to run the AC on a very warm summer evening. Overall a good deal when traveling, well lit in the evening and never heard the truckers entering the travel plaza during the evening hours. I would recommend the Ohio RV areas to everyone traveling through the area and wish more States offer the same.

Len, upon further review, I agree, the trucks did slow down entering later in the evening their noise never bothered us sleeping. Overall for just a stop from traveling a very good deal.
