We arrived home Wednesday from our Alaska tour after 3 months on the road.

We chose this tour based mainly on Jarhead and dewatkins prior experience .
Their points about the highlights you would probably miss if you did the trip on your own we're spot on. We seen and experienced places we would not of even know to look for.

Not having to worry about routes and campground reservations was a real treat. We were detoured in. BC because of the forest fires and the Fantasy RV people had new routes and reservations for us before we got near the fires.

If your thinking its a lot of money your right, and we paid up to 37% to exchange our Canadian money for the trip. I will let you do the math!

If I think about a week in Mexico at an all inclusive at $1500 USA per person vs the cost of this 60 day trip for the two of us it wasn't really all that bad.

Everything we seen about the Fantasy Tour organization was professional.

I think the idea of an all Open Range tour is fantastic. If anyone has specific questions pm us and we will be happy to share our experience with you.

Just a "what if"... We currently own and love a 319RLS. We are thinking about upgrading our rig in the next year or so. If we book and pay for this trip, and then trade our RV on a product not made by OR, do we still get to go on the trip?

If you committed and purchased the trip while a member of the forum and an Open Range owner I would say yes you still have a spot on the trip.Dave

If OR will come out with their variation of this awesome Grand Design floorplan, we'll stay a part of the family. I'd love to see the spin they would put on it!

There are dozens of front living RV's. It's the rear setup that makes it unique. A garage under the bed in a regular bedroom. Really look at the link I posted and you'll see what I'm talking about.

So how usable is that garage under the bedroom? Seems a bit constrained.
Looks like you need to unload the garage to use the bed.
If you use the garage for powered vehicles, will DW tolerate the fuel/oil smell in the bedroom?

But still, a brave floor plan for them to offer.

John

John,

It is large enough for a full size golf cart without a top, without raising the bed. (Convertible and fold down tops are available for most any golf cart to make that an easy task) The bed CAN be raised to accommodate a full size golf cart with a fixed top, but as you said, the cart would have to be removed to lower the bed. The weight rating is 1600 lbs for the garage so it will safely carry most any golf cart, motorcycle or toy. The garage is vented to help with fumes. I keep my golf cart clean and I haven't noticed any gas odor from it in my home garage, but that is an interesting question. I would assume GD has done their homework in sealing the area to help avoid an odor problem.

They offer the floorplan in both Momentum and Solitude lines and, as I said earlier, Keystone has come out with a very similar floorplan in their Montana High Country line. They are all selling as fast as they can make them.

Very nice, it didn't occur to me there was that much height in the garage with the bed in the down position.
And for those that golf, very sweet indeed.

So, I assume I'll you'll give us a tour when we meet up for the 2019 Alaskan trip? You should have it by then ;-)

Maybe yes, maybe no. As I stated, I really believe other manufacturers are going to come out with their versions of this layout. Hopefully I'll be giving you a tour of my new OR with a similar layout!
