Due to this hurricane Harvey mess, and trying to enable contractors, regrettably had to cancel our Oct/Nov trip. Our home needs rework due to minor flooding, putting up drywall, interior paint, and flooring. And putting furniture back in place.

Man, I am gonna miss out on trout fishing on the White River near Flipping, Ark.
Our trip would take us to various state parks and COE parks thru out Tx, Ark, MO and OK.

We may replan tip after our home put back, in order.

An update, progress report, 9/30/17....
All new drywall in, mud up, textured. Adding prime paint. Some walls recoated, especially wife's quilt room!

Put up wainscoting in mid bath, 1/2 bath and kitchen areas.

Gettin close to flooring decision, both estimates for materials n labor - both carpet and laminates.

So making progress. Prob 3-4 more weeks to wrap up.

Doing some work myself. Try save some $. Man I am tired.

Now about my son, Neil, in Vidor, Tx. Not going so great for him. FEMA inspector just out yesterday (took them long time!), and their suggested offer not so good! Needs more money from them. Weird how FEMA operates, assists folks. He should appeal, push them. :-(

We hope to do trip somewhere, after this rebuild all over. Ha, we might be going to Vidor, set up camper and help out son Neil rebuild his house.

Thanks for the update, Mickey. Good to read (mostly). Karen was just asking if I had heard how you were doing. All our best.

Sue n Rick, have a good trip to Dandridge. As I said b fore, got a golf cart there cause em hills in Tn make it rough moving around.

We are getting it together. Amy's quilting gals here helping painting the rooms. 4 loverly gals painting. I am outside putting primer n top coat on baseboards, as many I can do. Maybe tomorrow, after the bedrooms walls painted, can start baseboards. Brought a sliding mitre saw and have a pneumatic nail gun w small air tank to move around. When tank pressurecd days, fill,up with the air compressor.

Rolling along...

Son in Vidor plans to rework his home. Little money from FEMA! Not enough. Has gotten more from donations, contributions and other NGO outfits. He is so glad to get contributions from this forum members. Thanks guys.

He has started some work on the house, replacing some rotten lumber. Can only really work weekends, has to do his job.

Yea, you may see colors changes. We did a trip to Virginia to see colors. Unfortunately got there lil late. We called it the "dead leaf" tour. It was fun.

Progress update of our home.

New flooring installed. Now I need to do baseboards.

Carpet that was ordered came in. Now waiting word when installers can put it in. Amy and I are shuffling furniture around, from bedrooms to other areas of house, make room for carpeting.

Hopefully, soon be back to normal. :-)

Son, Neil, on other hand is just getting into his home repairs. Took week off from work for that. Trying his hand on plumbing repairs and dry wall installation. Limited monies and resources. FEMA assistance something to laugh at, really. Maybe better later, but they need to get home back.

To those that offered assistance, they really really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Safe travels.

Mickey, so glad to read your update, was just thinking about everyone out there and your progress. Glad to know things are finally coming together. My fear is that when you finally see the light at the end of the tunnel that it's the train. Good Luck and don't work tooooo hard.

Glad to hear things are going good for you. Hopefully will improve for your son. A close friend of ours Father lives in Puerto Rico and has lost everything. They still don't have communication but have heard he is ok. What a 2 month stretch our country has been through. Hopefully mother nature will settle down for a while.Dave

Our neighbor across street from us is Puerto Rico native, has family there. We shared horror stories of hurricanes, post hurricane effects.

Hoping the best for the folks there. ;-)
