Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for fencing ideas for toddlers when at sites. We have been to some sites where traffic runs in front of and behind the camp site which can get a little sketchy. I was looking at silt fencing with wood stakes like what is used at construction sites but thought maybe some campgrounds wouldn't want that since it isn't the most aesthetically pleasing to look at. It is light, compact, provides a good amount of coverage and seems easy to clean off. We have two youngsters and while I am always watching over them I would like them to be able to play without me having to keep corralling them away from the road, etc. also would be nice to let the small dog in there with them. Using a baby gate wouldn't give much space for them...

How about a portable play enclosure?

Yes I do have one of those and it would be great if the kids were younger... They will be 2 and 4 soon and would loose their minds being confined in that small of a space

We have multiple dog pens that fold up. We use two, I've seen others with three. Ours are about 32 inches high, they come in various heights, and fold flat for travel. We usually sit in them with the dogs and it's kept our grandchild 'contained' as well

Great idea! Are they metal? Do the campgrounds seem to be fine with you using them?

When I had a dog, I thought about this: http://www.picketplayfencing.com/home.html
It's expensive, but seems very easy to put up/take down, seems pretty sturdy, and they put thought into closing off the underbelly area as well. No escaping. My dog passed away, so I never did more than look at it.

Some campgrounds specifically do not allow "dog fencing". No idea how common that is, though. Best to check ahead of time.

That is good to know, yes the picket fencing looks really nice. Will just have to get creative doubt the silt fencing will fly at the campground lol, we'll probably get kicked out... Better stick with something that looks less like a mini construction site. Thanks for the responses!

I've never had an issue in the last three years of using the dog fencing. I don't just let the dogs into the area alone, one of us is always out there with them.
