Brand new ADCO RV Cover. After a few days, found what looked like a fabric burn on the right side about 5' long by 4" wide. This "burn" goes clear through the fabric. Today, about a month later, found new additional "burns" further down the same side, nearly same angle, about 6' long by 4" wide. Appears the "burns" are from the outside-in, determined because of one area in which there is a two layer vent and only the outside layer is burned.

Attached photographs. Any ideas of what might be going on here?

This is totally a wild guess ---could it be directly where the decal swoops are on the side of the trailer--
maybe a chemical reaction--I told you it was a wild guess :lol3

Wild guess is what I'm looking for as it isn't anything obvious, at least not to me. No, does not correspond to any decals or anything else on the trailer side or other side in fact!

is there a window adjacent to the trailer that could be reflecting sunlight light like a magnifying glass on the trailer?

I have heard of the sun reflecting off of house windows melting vinyl siding. Maybe that is what is happening to your cover.

Looks like it's mostly restricted to the grey coloured fabric, at least from these pics. Another wild guess, but could it be some kind of mould that the grey fabric is susceptible too? Maybe when it was folded in the box some of it it got wet and didn't dry out?

Ok, I'll add my S.W.A.G. to this phenomena. I'd guess something parked nearby has one of those mirrors (where things may be closer than they appear) and along came a sunny day. For the next burn beside it, the day was not quit as sunny. Some, Wild, Ar$$e, Guess.

Contrails. It's the MAN spraying those chemicals in the air to make us all do their bidding.

Did you see any black helicopters flying about?

We had a burn on ours...not as large, but still pretty substantial. It turned out that the trailer power was not grounded (put a meter between metal and the ground and I got 110 volts)...common when the ground wire is faulty. Anyway, since we’d ordered it from Camping World, we could return it within a year (or was it 6 monthsj for a “no questions asked” refund. Since we knew the problem, we simple ordered another...which has been fine since I corrected the shore power.

Peg n Mike - that’s interesting. You didn’t get shock effect beforehand?

Is that the "hot skin" condition I've read about?

Does it only occur on the darker fabric?

Mystery solved!!! Okay, to start, this is my neighbors trailer which is parked between his place and ours. In between is a wood fence. Our home is 2 stories with one window on that side, 20 plus feet away from his trailer. For those who opted it might be a reflection off a window or something similar, you were correct! See below photo taken today just before noon. Placing your hand at the reflected "X", it is HOT. My neighbor contacted ADCO and their advice? Move your trailer! Well, don't know about you, but there is no where else he has to park his RV. I can't believe this is the first time something like this has happened with ADCO with the thousands of covers they have manufactured. Neighbor is looking for a different company that uses a fabric that won't react in the same way.

Me thinks they didn't test their material very well.

I'm thinking they need to replace it and we need to get the word out that this is happening. It seems to me in the right situation it could start on fire I'm sure Rv safety would be interested.

Follow up on floating ground...the problem was the ground at my home socket...the ground wire worked loose. Had we walked up the stairs barefoot, it would have been exciting...but the RV was parked beside the garage. The only time we were shocked was at Shipshewana...we had a a bad pedestal connection. I put a volt meter on it and got 110 volts.
