Not sure this is the right area to ask this, but we have been experiencing strange sounds from the back of out unit. They are soft sometimes louder 'popping' or light banging sounds. At first we though ti was something loose on the back or under the back, maybe even a critter caught between the belly and frame. Does not happen consistently so not sure how to trace it. Thought it might even be contraction/expansion as we had come out of the freezing north into the south. But we've been here nearly two weeks now and it still continues.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Any particular time of day? Is it higher or lower in the rig? You may not be far off about a critter. If you have the time, may want to drop the underbelly if the sound is lower.

That could be tough to solve.

My solution, sorry, would be to turn hearing aid off. DW would bug the heck out of me, with “What’s that sound?”

Is it sunny AND cold outside? You get a lot of thermal expansion (sunny parts) and contraction (formerly sunny parts) in those conditions. I hear that in my stick house all the time in winter.

Is the sound when you're all sitting still or when someone is moving about?

I am betting on thermal expansion caused by sudden heating affect when moving from shade to direct exposure to sunlit. (as the sun moves, and your sitting in campsite with some shade)

We had a pinging sound one time coming from the propane tanks. We have a front bedroom unit and the tanks were mounted on the front of the trailer. Of course we were in bed when it started. Stopped after a little bit and has never done it again.

I have heard something that sounds sort of like a thin metal or stiff fabric making a subtle popping sound while moving around in the bathroom. Oddly, I only hear this when I have the JT Strongarm bolts tightened and have some weight on them. I have no idea why it would matter but it only does that when the Strongarm bolts are tightened and load is placed on them. Good luck.

The sound can come day or night, sun or dark. Sitting here at 7AM in the dark and boom - there it goes. It is certainly a puzzler. And no, no supplemental hearing devices in use here.

Maybe delayed reaction from the suspension readjusting from weight movement inside? The ezyflex need lubing from time to time and the plastic bushings wear out badly. Sorry that's all I got.

Tracking down these things can certainly be tricky.
I had an odd rattle sound when camped at one location last year. Ended up being
the angle we were parked at relative to the breeze. Finally traced it to the trailer's
license plate fluttering and colliding with the trailer's wall. Fixed with a piece of foam.
Sounded louder inside inside than out. Probably not your particular issue,
but in time you'll get to the bottom of it. Please do let us know what you find.

John

The one that gets me is the oven. After a couple minutes of turning it off...Boom! The metal pan above the flame contracts and makes a very loud noise. It sounds like something fell in the kitchen. Gets me jumpy every time.
The other popping noise we hear is while running the furnace at night. After the gas cuts off and the blower starts to cool the ducts, something in the rear basement snaps back before the fan cuts off. Don't hear that one unless we're in bed and typically half asleep.
Not sure if any of this helps, just some observations. Dave

Sound is still there - like a 'pop' and can find no rhyme or reason except thermal, but it has not been that hot or cold nor big extremes. Looked all over the back and the top and underneath, see nothing.
