I had three failures in my 2014 until I changed the switches. Haven't had one since. Until I click submit, of course.

I'm wondering if slide motor/gear box failures are also due to holding the botton in to long?

Does this also include shearing of the pin connecting the motor to the gear box? I already voted my 1 failure (shear pin) then I realized the title said motor/gear box which technically neither failed on mine.

yeah ---any slide drive failure ---actually this poll is not thought out very well (by me)-
I was trying to determine what year model(s) had the most failures

Well I guess us readers just have to pick one. ;-)

And silly me, I clicked the 2012, whereas I did not have sled motors/gearboxes failed. I unclicked it, but maybe I should not have, may affected others who already voted. If so, me bad.

Had chain snapped, a rusty chain.

So far, looks like 2015 the problems year. Sheared drive pins, stripped gears. And many of us know that, right?

I put down only 1 gear failure on our 2015 but we have only had trailer out 4 times in the pass two years majority of time in shop for repairs. Scared that if one gear box failed when will the next two fail. OR told our dealer they would not replace others gear boxs, while in shop, until they fail which will be our dollar. $140 hour labor will be no fun. And forget us replacing, not physically able.

Actually, the way the poll is done that just means a lot of people with 2015's answered. They may have chose 0 failures. But anecdotally, yeah, 2015 wasn't a good year.

My next issue is going to be the kitchen slide. Strangely, when I looked underneath the slide, the plastic surface for the rollers to travel on come up an almost 2 inches short for the roller in the fully out position. the slide has to start going in with the roller against the bottom before getting to the hard plastic. The rollers then have to roll over the plastic deforming and destroying the end of the roller surface. This could be interesting. I may need to get the two plastic roller surfaces and replace...

Yes I guess it's my turn to chime in, my living room slide Motor made a Big Bang when I pushed the switch spent an hour with my drill and the short rod they give you to bring the slide in, my arm wasn't long enough so the slide is sticking out 2" . Someone said that you can push the slides in is there anyone that can verify this. And the good part is my warranty ran out a month ago.

Definitely can push in. It takes 3 people one to hold down the button and 2 to push, 1on each side.

We have a 2014 res320 and all three slide gear boxes failed within a week of each other. We only had the unit out six times with slide operation less than 50 occurrences. NOT impressed by the build quality.

My 2016 319RLS (3 slides) only had one minor problem. When it was at the factory a tech said the one slide sounded funny so they went ahead and replaced the motor. So far we have been at 51 RV parks in the last 18 months and never had a gear, motor, pin slide problem. My slide power switches have rounded corners that means I have the latest switches. I have had the cables adjusted a couple times, but so far so good. Knock on wood.

The thing is with these things you can never predict a failure. Yes, once a gearbox starts to go most of the time you can hear it, and most of the time you can work around it... But if its in the budget, buy a spare of each, the motor and the gearbox, and get some extra pins also.
