In your case I think I would go ahead and take it to the dealer to get everything adjusted correctly. Better safe than sorry. Would hate for you to do all that work then ruin your new gear box or even worse ruin your slideout some how.
Good luck sir.

I have to readjust the cables. The bottom-out cables appear to have a lot more tension than the bottom-in cables, thus those tensioners and cables are cattywampus. Not a pretty installation.

Go check out YouTube for some guidance. There are no less than 6 videos explaining how the slides work and how to replace and adjust the tensions. Worth looking at before doing the deep dive. As it has been said "Measure Twice, Cut Once" Good luck.

Gearbox replaced and cables adjusted. Thanks to all for advice and guidance. Three links were the bombs; Accu-Slide service manual, Gonefishing's video, and the "cable adjustment in under 7 minutes" on YouTube.

My gearbox failed due to insufficient bushings for the gear axles and weak upper casting buckled. Not impressed with the lackadaisical installation from the factory. This is the 21st century, shouldn't a simple transmission survive more than two years before self destructing?

Ditto on what everyone else said!!! Thank you so very much. My husband just contacted Genuine in TX. They are sending the gearbox (x 2) by 2 day shipping. Very nice folks to do business with. We have been waiting for this day to come, and it did just in time....., broke this morning. So very thankful to have your video. Otherwise looking at quite a bill from the dealer. We are leaving in a few weeks for 2.5 months. Buying two of them, as it is just as you say...a matter of time. Since we have our route and reservations all planned out, we would hate to be hung up someplace.
