We are having a problem with our backsplash in the kitchen 318 RLS 2016. It wasn't long after we went on the first couple of camping trips in our brand new unit that we noticed the backsplash bowing out. We have taken it to our local dealer in Marion North Carolina and they were told by the Open Range that it would not be covered under warranty since it was over 90 days old. They tried to remove the backsplash but damaged it so they ordered the new piece and came in damaged also. Has anyone else had this problem on their unit? The smaller one behind the stove is the same but we told them not to worry about that one. We are tempted to get a backsplash from a box company and having it installed. :-(

90 days????? OR has a bumper to bumper 2 year warranty! Sounds like the dealer is either shining you on or trying to get out of doing warranty work!

I would get a hold of HR RIGHT AWAY!!

Chris

One of the more popular mods has been replacing the stock backsplash with a stick-on "tile" backsplash from Lowe's or Home Depot. We keep planning to do that mod in our unit but I keep putting it off. This might be the time for you to consider it. As Chris says, it should be under warranty but this is a cool mod just in case you don't want to deal with the dealer. The ones I have seen look really nice and BTW most did the backsplash behind the stove too.

Our 318 store back splash also bowed. And the bathroom, behind faucet had a corner lifting. We pushed that back in, to r3stick it.

DW said screw them splashes...went to home Depot got her fave. She pulled OEM off, clean off eall, wiped with mineral dpirit, cut pattern for the new. We applied 3M outdoor Doble sided tape, wide stuff, and she got it done
Looks nice. Bathroom to come later.

Found out HR use the foam style double tape and IMHO, worst kind. As we seen, won't last 7 days. I always shy away from any foam stuff.

I would be calling OR directly. If you bought it as NEW off the lot then it has a full 2 year factory warranty. If OR tells you yes of course its covered then report the dealership to them. If the dealer told you it was brand new and it was really a used unit, report them. I have never had any problems getting warranty work done. Never asked one question about the issue. They always fixed or replaced it for the 1st 2 years. Out of warranty now for us tho. We pulled the old back splash off and replaced it.

Thank you all for the comments. Husband Ron informed me that the 90-day issue was over a piece of molding that has come loose over the slide, not the backsplash so sorry for the misinformation. I still think even this should be covered under warrantee. Thanks again

Again, NEW OR's come with 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. I am not aware of any changes to that for 2017. Call OR service.

I am familiar with the dealer you are talking about. Forget them and either go to another OR dealer or directly to OR. Tom Johnson / Camping World in Marion is incompetent. Any Camping World can repair your unit under warranty. You don't have to return to Marion.

we purchased our 5th wheel in June. Took it in for servicing in Jan b/c we thought still under warranty. Many moldings and chalk coming off; interior wood molding around slides, molding around fireplace, sink chalking coming out, chalk in shower coming off. Open Range denied all saying these items only warranteed for 90 days. Luckily all of these issues are easy for me to fix, but I am a little put off by Open Range since I think 90 days (we camp 1 weekend a month so only 9 days of use) is ridiculously short.
