Sometimes I have to look in the mirror to see if I am really pulling something.
With the cruise control set at 65 I get 28mpg non-towing. When towing my RV at 65 I get 17mpg.
I looked at trucks everyday for several weeks and consumer guides. I really wanted a Chevy because I always been a Chevy person, but the Ram kept coming out on top as far as specs and cost.
I am very happy with my RAM.

Those are some pretty impressive mileage numbers you are posting there.....I assume those are the values you get from the lie-o-meter and are not hand calculated. I have the same truck and trailer as you and I am only getting 11-13 towing and avg. 16.5 city/hwy combined. The one road trip I did do unloaded I got 19.2 round trip.....

DOn't you remember signing that form when you bought the truck? The one that said you needed to add 5 MPG whenever you tell someone about your mileage. HAHA It is a requirement for all diesel owners!!

I'm glad I didn't get a diesel; I hate fibbing!

BTW - my V10 got 45 mpg on the way home from the dealer yesterday. I bet it'll get 50 mpg with my trailer behind it.

FWIW my 2015 Ram 2500 CTD gets about 3MPG's better than my 2014 F150 with the 3.5L ecoboost when towing and 4.5 better when unloaded...and yes, this is hand calculated. I use the Fuelly app to log my mileage and fuel consumption so my numbers are as accurate as you can get. The 14.4mpg in my signature is my total overall MPG both towing and empty and over 60% of my mileage is hooked to my 11K trailer and I rarely do any highway trips with the truck when it is empty. The tank I am on right now is averaging 18.3 mpg's and that is 50/50 mix of city/short hwy runs unloaded. I don't know of any gassers that can compare to a diesel for MPG's if you are comparing 1/2 ton to 1/2 ton and so on.....yes, maintenance cost is higher but it equals out when you consider the savings in full cost.

At the time when I bought my truck, I was leaning towards a Chevy truck because I a Chevy guy.
The Chevy dealers didn't have much of a selection when it came to Diesels 2015 and discounts for 2015's (2016 were already on the lot). Dodge Ram had more selection and bigger discounts at the tire.
I'm very happy.

Personally I'm a Ram Cummins guy. I have a 2014 3500 DRW, Aisin Trans with 4:10 rear. The 4:10 rear end allows me to tow anything. Although I don't get glamorous mileage per gallon. Generally 13 around town. 9-10 towing my 427. I just prefer the inline six and the clatter of a diesel! I'd wait to see what the new GM's have coming out. The Duramax is going to be tweaked in the neighborhood of 1000lbs torque / 450 horse. Although, you may get a good deal on a left over 16 when they do. Ford - well they're Fords. You'll need a F450 to get the tow numbers of a Ram 3500. The upcoming 2017 Ford DRW will look much nicer as they have altered the rear wheel fenders. Comes down to personal choice.

Well a little over a year ago I started out with the same questions. I researched and read spec after spec. I talked to several dealers, Talked with people and asked questions. I ended up ordering a 2016 F350 diesel 1 ton dully. It came down to price and wife's color (lol), and what package the dealer would get me. The big three all have nice trucks. I say Test drive them all, ask a lot of questions. Torque, horsepower, MPG, towing capacity, 5th wheel prep package, and PRICE then you decide its your money.
