I have a MF316 with Westlake 10 ply, G rating (I think) tires. One just blew up with 7500 miles and damaged my FW. I am not taking a chance with the other 3. So I am looking at replacing them. I am considering replacing them with 14 ply G rating tires. I am concerned that the increased pressure in the tires will make my FW bounce more. There is also a 12 ply F rating option.

Has anyone "experience" with increasing the rating? How do you think it has effected your RV?

I would go with Salun Tires if you can get them or the Goodyear's. I personally have the Carlisle Tires.

I went with Sailuns and have seen no difference. A suspension without shocks is bouncy. Shmooshy tires run hotter and may fail.

I recently put G rated 14 ply Prometer on mine -- have about 3000 miles on them
and so far I'm impressed with the performance. Went to CHR and back in August
with no problems.

10 Ply is a E rated tire not A G. I have G rated Sailuns on my rig for almost 4 years now without issue.

Abs dad, do you have a TPMS? What was the cause of the blow out? A leak? Low pressure?

TST TPMS will monitor PSI and Temp. Let me know if you have any questions regarding TST TPMS. I am always available to OROF members.

Thanks,

We recently blew a Constancy tire that came on our RV. We replaced all 4 tires with Goodyear Endurance. We only have 1500 miles on them but so far so good. :cfire

I have a 2018 297rls. It's about 2000 lighter UVW than yours but I put on the Goodyear Endurance tires. Nice and stiff plus they come with a shorter tread depth to help with cooling. I complained at first but, every tire I've ever heard of that failed on a RV trailer was not due to lack of tread. It was due to age, air pressure, uneven weight distribution, hitting something etc..., so I bought them. 10 ply and rated at 3638 lbs per tire at 80 psi. Huge difference in towing.

Absdad, if you could recall, were your Westlake tires the “Super” or just plain Westlake, markings on sidewall?

Mine were the "Super" and had 8k miles on them they still looked new but I replaced them anyway just to be safe.
