Never been camping in the northeast. We normally go west from chicago like Yellowstone, grand Tetons, glacier etc. Planning to go for 2 weeks the middle of July to Adirondacks and white mountains. Has anyone been to these areas? Any must do's or great locations to stay in? So far I am looking to stay at Saco river in North Conway and KOA in Wilmington. Anybody stay at these locations?

Mount Washington, if you get in the area. White Mountains. We drove up...if you get nervous on narrow, winding, rough road you can take the cog train up to the top.

You are picking the right time to go to New Hampshire. The weather should be at its best. That being said, you should prepare for the range of very warm to cool rain. The White Mountains makes its own weather. Hiking in New Hampshire is excellent with hundreds of trails with many "mountains" over 4000 feet in elevation. There are many guide books and trail maps to be had. Eastern Mountain Sports has a great facility in North Conway. There will be opportunities for rafting on the Saco River close by. There are lots of lakes and ponds to explore by canoe or kayak. Try to visit Lake Winnipesaukee.
The camp grounds in the Northeast tend to be older and well worn. They may be a challenge for big rigs as they were designed in an era of small units and much tenting. You can do your research with camping review apps like "Allstays" to get reliable camper reviews.
If you get a chance and have the time, try to get over to Mt Desert island in coastal Maine. It's not that far and well worth the time.
Lastly, bring plenty of bug repellent. Enjoy.

Our favorite locations in the east are Acadia National Park in Maine, which might be a bridge too far for your trip, and the finger lakes in upstate NY...Watkins Glen State Park on Lake Seneca is amazing...it is a carved stone trail up the gorge where you pass under, over and beside an amazing series of waterfalls. Your trip back could go through Canada from Niagra to Detroit. The Canadian side of Niagra Falls is beautiful, Detroit isn't but Michigan has wonderful campgrounds.

Made the 2 week trip, although west is still my favorite way to go this was nice too. White mountains in NH for 6 days and then to Adirondacks for 5 days and then over to Niagara Falls for a couple days. No complaints where I stayed. Saco river campground in NH was excellent as well as KOA in lake placid. Branches resort near Niagara was great as well. Now for the bad, this trip took a toll on the OR. Everything interior wise totally fell apart, center island, the entire entertainment center was 1/16" from falling off with Tv, speakers and all. Spent this whole weekend putting back together and securing it. This thing is a total piece of shit and Open Range can kiss my rear as my wife has approved getting rid of it, yay for me can't wait to off load this poorly built pile of shit!

Great to hear about the trip, not so great about the rig. Did you buy it brand new and this just happened on this trip? What was it about this trip that caused all the carnage? I'd be looking for other causes like tires and suspension causing some sort of excessive vibration, as that will do that to any rig regardless of brand.

If you are heading towards Boston, Normandy Farms in Foxboro Mass. is an amazing campground. Have stayed there several times in the past. 5 Star resort camping all the way. Indoor pool, sauna, gym, whirlpool, and rec center. I think there were 3 more outdoor pools. Nice sized, shaded sites. AMAZING STAFF. Open all year
